Coconut oil helps our hair growth and general health in a lot of ways. It reduces hair frizz and it’s kinda like hair sunscreen. it keeps your hair shiny and scalp lice free and much more of that good stuff. Now let’s get on with it shall we? 🙂
Making coconut oil is easy and there are a lot of ways you can make them at home, i just feel like i get a lot of oil from boiling. All you will need is:
-2 cup distilled water
-1 undefined mature, brown coconut, nutmeat removed
Grate coconut meat into a bowl. You can grate as much as you would like. I use one coconut because i don’t like to store them for a long period so it remains fresh.
Place coconut and hot water in a blender and cover securely. Allow to sit for a few minutes before blending so the liquid does not overflow the blender and burn your hands.
Puree coconut and water in the blender.
Line the sieve with a layer or two of cheesecloth and place in a medium sized bowl.
Pour the coconut puree into the sieve and press the liquid into the bowl using a rubber spatula or the back of a large spoon. When the pulp has been pressed dry, add a little more water to the pulp and press again.
Place liquid in a medium-size saucepan and bring up to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly. The coconut oil will separate from the cream and the water will evaporate.
When the separated and curdled cream has browned, strain the liquid oil through the kitchen sieve into a container. Cover and allow to cool off then pour them into containers and store in a cool place.
