Making coconut oil is easy and there are a lot of ways you can make them at home, i just feel like i get a lot of oil from boiling.  All you will need is:

Preparation

Step 1

Grate coconut meat into a bowl. You can grate as much as you would like. I use one coconut because i don’t like to store them for a long period so it remains fresh.

Step 2

Place coconut and hot water in a  blender and cover securely. Allow to sit for a few minutes before blending so the liquid does not overflow the blender and burn your hands.

Step 3

Puree coconut and water in the blender.

Step 4

Line the sieve with a layer or two of cheesecloth and place in a medium sized bowl.

Step 5

Pour the coconut puree into the sieve and press the liquid into the bowl using a rubber spatula or the back of a large spoon. When the pulp has been pressed dry, add a little more water to the pulp and press again.

Step 6

Place liquid in a medium-size saucepan and bring up to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly. The coconut oil will separate from the cream and the water will evaporate.

Step 7

When the separated and curdled cream has browned, strain the liquid oil through the kitchen sieve into a container. Cover and allow to cool off then pour them into containers and store in a cool place.

Heiress to the Hair…….

10914236_388222431340303_759599851_n

Our hair is our crown. the very definition of whom we are or aspire to be. clean cut, tomboy, curly, straight, long or short to name a few help create a certain persona. We like to get creative with our hair, using weaves, extensions, braids/plaits to achieve these looks. in the midst of all the diverse styles nowadays we neglect our own natural hair so why don’t we talk about that shall we?……

    NATURAL HAIR PROBLEMS

Now let us nappy haired ladies celebrate ourselves for making one of the best decisions we probably have made recently….HEALTHY HAIR!!! CHEMICAL FREE!! HURRAY WE DID IT!! now i know it’s not easy to brush the terribly shrunk, thick or curly hair but i am going to talk about all the steps and routines that worked for me at least. I hope it works for yours as well.

My hair texture is soft, curly and most of all sensitive so back then when i would relax my hair it would get extra soft and just break mercilessly. It didn’t matter how well i had oiled it or played by the ‘rules’ it just kept breaking and never grew. Out of frustration, i cut my hair and decided to go natural. anyways fast forward to the good stuff.. i read about natural hair and how to grow it and that long process everyone talks about.. too lazy to do all that so here are my treatment regimens. I hope it works for you.

THE PROCESS:

Personally i don’t wash my hair with shampoo. any form of shampoo has sulphate in it and that dries out my hair and causes breakage and even if it doesn’t break my hair, it would give me a dry scalp (dry in the sense that my scalp can’t retain oil, it dries out). so instead i condition my hair three times and then deep condition or a wash and go (basically leave-in conditioner). i like to use a lot of products in my hair when i wash so i make a mixture of some oils i’d be talking about later on when i condition my hair. it’s not scientifically proven but i feel like it just works on my hair growth a lot more this way (female Intuition) 🙂 🙂 😉

After i wash and dry my hair, i have a formula. this formula is to be used regularly.

-100% Coconut Oil (i make mine,view next post for a ‘HOW-TO’)images

-Almond Oil

-Olive Oil

-Jojoba Oil

-Argan Oil

-At least two or three hair growth creams

-Pink Oil (they don’t really make them anymore but ‘motions’ is a good recommendation)

1000947_519128_a_400

i mix these products portioned in a jar and make sure it’s properly blended and then use that on my scalp and tips everyday. the secret to getting best results are to eat a lot of fruits and to use this mixture religiously. when we have weaves on it’s harder but try to reach your scalp and oil it. Also, if you have a similar hair texture to mine avoid applying pressure to the frontline of the hair as in tight corn rows for weaves, braids etc.. it saves you from losing your front hair so easily. i recommend a co-wash every week or two.

Let’s Go Over All We Have Learnt Shall We?

-Avoid Shampoos like a plague

-Condition more

-Oil your scalp….ALOT LOT LOT….

-Wash your hair often= Don’t keep weaves in for too long.

EXTRA:

make sure you steam and do the hot oil treatment often…it helps to retain moisture and keep your scalp healthy. and also trim your tips to keep your hair healthy. Ouuu one more thing…. if your hair is too thick you could spray it with a little water before you brush it. it prevents breakage.

SO THERE YOU HAVE IT!!! GO FORTH AND GROW YOUR HAIR!!!

BITCH BAD…

This song Bitch Bad by Lupe Fiasco is so important to this generations mentality. Its a double standard set out there unconsciously we are played into it. read and i hope you enjoy.

Bitch bad, woman good, lady better. Now imagine there’s a kid, maybe five or four years old riding round with his mother listening to the radio then a song comes on and not far off from being born, he doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong. Not to make it too complex, let’s just say shawty has an undeveloped context about the perception of women these days. His mother sings along and this is  what she says :-

and other rhyming words like cabbage and savage and baby carriage and other things that match it. Couple of things that are happening here, First he’s relating the word “bitch” with his mama, comma and because she’s relating to herself, his most important source of help, and mental health, he may skew respect for dishonor.

Now imagine a group of little girls nine through twelve on the internet watching videos listening to songs by themselves
It doesn’t really matter if they have parental clearance cos they understand the internet better than their parents. Being the interent, the content’s probably uncensored, they’re young, so they’re maleable and probably unmonitored. A complicated combination, maybe with no relevance. Until that intelligence meets their favorite singer’s preference
“Bad bitches, bad bitches, bad bitches that’s all I want and all I like in life is bad bitches, bad bitches”. Now let’s say that they are less concerned with him and more with the video girl acquiescent to his whims. Ah, the plot thickens, High heels, long hair, fat booty, slim. Reality check, I’m not tripping
They don’t see a paid actress, all they see is just what makes a bad bitch.

Disclaimer: This rhymer, Lupe’s not usin’ bitch as a lesson but as a psychological weapon to set in your mind and really mess with your conceptions, discretions, reflections, it’s clever misdirection cause, while I was rappin’ they was growing up fast nobody stepped in to ever slow them up, gasp! Sure enough, in this little world the little boy meets one of those little girls and he thinks she a bad bitch and she thinks she a bad bitch. He thinks disrespectfully, she thinks of that sexually. She got the wrong idea, he don’t wanna fuck her. He thinks she’s bad at being a bitch like his mother. Momma never dress like that, come out the house, hot mess like that. Ass, titties, dress like that. All out to impress like that. Just like that, you see the fruit of the confusion. He is caught in a reality, she is caught in an illusion. Bad mean good to her but she is really nice and smart but bad mean bad to him, bitch don’t play your part but bitch still bad to her if you say it the wrong way but she think she a bitch, what a double entendre.
Bitch bad, woman good, lady better, they misunderstood. You’re misunderstood. Bitch bad, woman good, lady better, greatest motherhood.

The thought that became…

So dolls I have decided to re-brand my lifelong dream job.. fashion designing for those of  you who don’t know :). the label that is Chislev. never heard of it before?
Oh well, Chislev is a dragonlance god that embodies the act of instinct, wild ones and the beast mother. She believes the soul grows by releasing thought and instinct, and giving in to primal urges. She is the power of the natural world and all things wild. Just like Chislev, I embody these same traits.. I am basically a Chislev evolution. embodying the wild ones that dare to be simply AMAZING! those are true fashion trendsetters *wink*. not just dress making, Chislev is the label that will change the business and lifestyle that is fashion. So many surprises up for you birdies it makes the hardwork worth it.
Right so now that you know.. i’m going to get back to work! what is the first thing an aspiring designer should do to start out her label? I think it should be creating a team of brilliant minds. I would love to hear your thoughts….
Love,
Mode J’adore!

Artistic words for my addiction…

The fashionable body is due for a change,

And over the years has encountered a range,

Of shapes and sizes dictated by trends,

Because the quest for vogue never ends…

With a riot of colors she was born to wear,

The fashion cognoscenti all stop and stare,

At those long skinny legs and the prominent beak,

Of a strutting peacock at her artistic peak..

Wrapped in its beauty with a ribbon and a bow,

Deception is the veneer of what you don’t know,

And unless your imagination is completely denied,

It’s a package so pretty but empty inside.

No style or variation in the way we dress,

Fashion has lost its unbounded excess,

And in the sea of bodies not one surprise,

If everyone was born to wear the same size!
